She has led chemical procurement at Clorox, formulation and fragrance development at Method, and served as VP of Product at J.R. Watkins, overseeing product development, quality, regulatory compliance, and third-party manufacturing. Currently, Akemi leads the Independent Beauty Association’s (IBA) global supply chain and sustainability program, supporting small- to medium-sized beauty and personal care businesses. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Rutgers University and a PhD in chemistry from UCLA.
